Developing Abu Dhabi’s natural gas ecosystem to deliver clean energy for residential, transport, industrial and commercial needs

In a step towards building a sustainable urban system, Abu Dhabi, spear headed by ADNOC Distribution, is undertaking a pioneer project to shift the city’s main energy consumer sectors into a cleaner, less polluting, longer lasting energy source.

Whether by transforming the police and public transport fleets to operate on natural gas, or by deploying a state-of-the-art city gas grid, the future plans for Abu Dhabi natural gas are as bright as its leadership and as promising as its economy.

Natural gas: the fuel of today and tomorrow!

The debate regarding pollution caused by consuming heavier fuels poses a major dilemma for policy makers who, while considering the environment, are constantly looking for an efficient fuel that is affordable for consumers.

Natural gas the answer to this dilemma!

CH₄ +2O₂->CO₂ + 2H₂O is the cleanest combustion of hydrocarbons, releases less CO₂ in the atmosphere and is more efficient than its relative the C₈H₈ (Octane) that we are currently using to fill our cars.

For Abu Dhabi, natural gas can play a strategic role in the development of the country. Besides its existing natural gas reserves, Abu Dhabi has the opportunity of securing stable gas supplies through strategic partnerships with other countries from the region.
